In Transit

Hey everyone! Just a few photos of my outfit today. I had the day off so I went to the mall with my sister and got a couple of nice jackets from H&M that I will style and post soon. Hope you're all having a lovely day. Enjoy!

My cousin recently introduced me to the group Milky Chance and I thought I'd share a song. Their EP is available on iTunes (in Canada; album "Sadnecessary" can be bought in full elsewhere) for a few dollars but there's also tons on YouTube if you're interested in hearing more. Dangerously catchy, be prepared to unintentionally hum them all day.

Boy Inspired

I've always been someone drawn to the more androgynous look on a girl, I mean, who says a great pant suit should only be exclusive to men? Hence, this post is dedicated to button-up collared shirts and dress shoes.

I definitely went casual with this, so it's perfect for anyone wanting to test out the trend without jumping into tailored blazers, matching pants, and neckwear. As a base, button ups and distressed denim are a classic and easy spring/summer look but what pushes this into the menswear realm is the thin baby blue pinstripes on the top and the brown leather accents, namely the Oxford shoes. I purchased them recently at Spring along with a black pair (they were both on sale - the black ones came to around $12 and the brown ones $20) if there is no store near you they are still available on the website here.

Multiples

Little black dress. LBD. Need I say more? A timeless staple in every girl's wardrobe they're arguably one of the only items you can wear to any occasion at any time of the year. Wearing the Wilfred Aube Slip Dress from Aritzia I wanted to show how a few simple touches can go a long way - changing the look from classy to casual. If you're looking for a lightweight summer dress the one I'm wearing is currently on sale for 50% off on the Aritzia website here

While I've been told that shoes make an outfit I must argue that with such a simple base of a black dress and black boots the jacket is everything - and you can never go wrong with a blazer. This crisp white version from H&M pairs well with the soft flow of the dress and casual boots.

Blazer // H&M
Chelsea Boots // Topshop
Karma Necklace // Blue Ruby (brand - Dogeared)

Blue and black. Denim and leather. The combinations are endless and always timeless. Here, the vibe is definitely more casual but nonetheless chic with the minimal colour palette.

Switching out of my beloved chelsea boots, I changed into some nude flats with a pointed toe. Paired with the silky dress the entire outfit is simple but still effortless and elegant, while the nude shoe helps to elongate the legs.

Child's Play

Today my friend Jade and I wandered around downtown Vancouver and the seawall before having some good old Whole Foods lunch. I didn't take my camera as I was going to work right after and would have no place to safely put it but I got her to take some shots of my outfit before we left. Enjoy!

Floral Tank // Forever 21
Blazer // H&M
Jeans // Urban Outfitters
Shoes // Converse
Watch // Casio - American Apparel
Karma Necklace // Dogeared - Blue Ruby

Side note: the title of my post "Child's Play" is the name of an SZA song from her new album Z. Definitely have a listen if you're into that smooth beat R&B, the whole album is good and I've been listening to it non-stop.

Wicked

A few nights ago I saw the musical Wicked at Queen Elizabeth Theatre with my sister, mom and cousin. We had some time to kill before leaving and I got a new camera so thought it was fitting for my first outfit post! The weather was perfect so I chose something summery but still layered enough to keep me warm as the show ended fairly late.

The show itself was amazing and I definitely recommend checking it out if you have the chance. Admittedly, I did go in with little expectation, or even knowledge of the show, but I honestly loved every minute and was stunned at the voices.

Also, for anyone wondering the camera used is the Fujifilm X20.
